October 20, 1958

Two younger brothers

Bio: Viggo, who was born to a Danish father and an American mother, spent most of his early childhood years in Manhattan. His family traveled alot, and he spent several years in Venezuala, Argentina, and Denmark (where he was a truck driver). Viggo also spent 9 years in South America (from the age of 2 through 11). He began acting in New York, studying under Warren Robertson. He appeared in several plays and movies, and eventually moved to Los Angeles, where his performance in "Bent" at the Coast Playhouse earned him a Drama-logue Critic's Award. His debut movie was "Witness" with Harrison Ford (1985) as a young Amish Farmer. Since then he has been credited for more than thirty movies, including "The Portrait of a Lady" (1996), "The Indian Runner" (1991), "Carlito's Way" (1993), "G.I. Jane" (1997), "Crimson Tide" (1995), "A Perfect Murder" (1998), "La Pistola de mi hermano" (1997), and "A Walk on the Moon" (1999). In 1987, Viggo married Exene Cervenka, the lead singer of the punk band "X," and, in 198?, they had a son, Henry. Besides having great talent in acting, Viggo is also a very talented painter (He actually painted the large murals in his artist's studio in the film "A Perfect Murder"), poet (had one book published called "Ten Last Night" before he became known), jazz musician (he has released three CDs so far), and photographer. His talent of sword fighting and acting are shown best in the trilogy of "The Lord of the Rings." Viggo, surprisingly, was not Peter Jackson's first choice for Aragorn/Strider. Peter originally casted Stuart Townsend as Aragorn. But only after a few days of shooting, Peter fired Stuart (because he thought he wasn't old enough to play Aragorn) and called Viggo. Viggo was very hesitant in taking the job, but his son was a LOTR fan and had been reading the LOTR trilogies and he told his dad that he should take it. Viggo accepted and was immediatly flown to New Zealand and was given a few lessons on sword fighting and canoeing. Viggo caught on so well in sword fighting, that Bob Anderson (the stunt coordinator) said Viggo is one of his most talented and one of the best sword fighters he has every trained.

Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom - "Legolas Greenleaf"

Name: Orlando Bloom

Birthday: January 17, 1977

Hometown: Canterbury, Kent, England

Parents: Father- Harry Bloom (deceased) Mother - Unknown

Sister: Samantha (older)

Height: 5'11

Bio:
Before Orlando was born, his family of distinguished intellectuals endured the hardships of political persecution while fighting against the apartheid regime in South Africa. His father is the novelist Harry Bloom, who's efforts to help South Africa's embattled black population even resulted in him spending a spell in prison. The Bloom family eventually fled to Britain, and settled in Canterbury where Orlando was born. Just a few years later, in 1981, his father passed away. Their mother taught them to enjoy the arts and encouraged them to participate in the local Kent Festival. Bloom began by reciting poetry and prose, displaying an advanced sensitivity to tone and modulation. Yet, it wasn't this precociousness or his frequent trips to the theater that influenced Bloom to become a professional actor. He was in awe of larger-than-life characters -- from Superman to the members of the A-Team -- and knew the only way to become one was to play one on the screen. At 16, Bloom relocated to London and performed with the National Youth Theatre for two seasons before winning a scholarship to train with the British American Drama Academy. At the conclusion of his term with the group, he played the lead in A Walk in the Vienna Woods, and secured an agent. This led to small roles on British television and an appearance in Brian Gilbert's "Wilde" (1997). Wishing to further his education, Bloom then enrolled at London's prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. There, he acted in several plays, including Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night", Chekov's "Three Sisters," and Sophocles' "Antigone." While still in school, Bloom was trying to make it onto a friend's rooftop terrace when he fell two stories and broke his back. The accident almost paralyzed the actor, but surgery let him walk out of the hospital on crutches. Soon afterward, all his peers auditioned for coveted roles in the upcoming The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The extensive and selective casting process took place in every English-speaking country. Bloom good-naturedly tried out for the role of Faramir, a character introduced in the second film, "The Two Towers" (2002). After meeting with the project's director, Peter Jackson, Bloom was not cast as Faramir. Instead, Jackson asked that he read for the part of Legolas Greenleaf, a much more prominent figure who is featured in all three films. The director offered Bloom the role a few weeks later, only two days before the burgeoning star graduated from drama school. Legolas, Tolkien's warrior elf, has super-human strength, swift reflexes, and heightened sensory awareness. To play him, Bloom trained in archery, swordplay, and horseback riding for two months prior to shooting. After finishing "The Lord of the Rings" -- all three films, "The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers," and "The Return of the King," were shot simultaneously over 18 months in New Zealand. After "LOTR," Bloom headed to Morocco for a role in Ridley Scott's "Black Hawk Down." Following these blockbusters, Bloom performed in several quirky films with limited releases such as "Lullaby of Clubland" (2001). Hoards of elaborate fan sites emerged to celebrate his physical beauty and acting prowess, and there is even an Internet petition to start an Official Orlando Bloom Fan Club (will place it on the site when found).

Where is he now: Orlando will have two movies to come to theaters this summer : "Ned Kelly" with Heath Ledger and "Pirates of the Carribean" with Johnny Depp. Orlando is also working on his newsest movie "Troy", which he co-stars with Brad Pitt.
